Meeting held to include poor women under universal pension scheme in M’singh

An awareness meeting has been organised in Mymensingh city to include grassroots women under the Universal Pension Scheme.

A total of 60 women from ultra-poor families attended the meeting arranged by renowned women entrepreneur and social activist Joyita Syeda Selima Azad, also executive director of Godhuli Nari Kalyan Sangstha, at her office in the city’s Taltala area on Monday afternoon.

Sonali Bank PLC Mymensingh Corporate Branch Principal Officers Abdul Mannan and Mahfuzur Rahman were present as guests. They discussed details about the Universal Pension Scheme. Saiful Islam Dudu, general secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, and Suman Chandra Ghosh, president of Multiparty Advocacy Forum, among others, were present. Joyita Syeda Selima Azad presided over the discussion. In her concluding speech, she wanted to know from the poor women whether they are interested in saving money. The participants responded positively.
