Meeting between Coast Guard chiefs of Bangladesh and Turkey held

Commandant of Turkish Coast Guard Rear Admiral (LH) Ahmet Kendir along with other delegates of the Turkish delegation on Wednesday paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreath at his portrait at Dhanmondi in the capital.

A five-member delegation of Turkish Coast Guard, including wife of Rear Admiral (LH) Ahmet Kendir, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Tuesday on a four-day official tour. On arrival, the Turkish delegation was received by Deputy Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard Commodore M Shahjahan.

The Turkish Coast Guard’s Commandant was paid guard of honour at the Coast Guard Headquarters in the capital. Later, a bilateral meeting between Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haq and Turkish Coast Guard’s Commandant took place. They discussed training and mutual cooperation for developing both country's professional skills.

Besides, Rear Admiral (LH) Ahmet Kendir was scheduled to join a meeting with the Home Minister and the Chief of the Naval Staff.

Meanwhile, the wife of Turkish Coast Guard chief was also scheduled to hold meetings with Begum Farzana Kabir, President Bangladesh Coast Guard Family Welfare Association (CGFWA) and President Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association (BNFWA).

During the visit, the Turkish delegation is visiting various historical sites like National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar, Garments Industry, Sonargaon Folk and Crafts Museum and Pannam Nagar.

The visit of the Turkish Coast Guard chief will play a leading role in the development of bilateral                relations.
