Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque said sports is not just a means of entertainment, it has a close relation with health of body and mind.
Referring that, media workers are the conscience of the society, the mayor said that sports play an important role for physical well-being. For this purpose, the media workers have continued the practice of sports for physical and mental development.
He made this remark while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the Walton-Khulna Press Club Media Cup T20 cricket tournament organised by Khulna Press Club at Khulna district stadium on Friday morning with the participation of Khulna journalists.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain was the special guest at the function presided over by Khulna Press Club President SM Nazrul Islam.
Khulna Journalists Union President Mohammad Munshi Mahabub Alam Sohag, Press Club General Secretary Mamun Reza, Area Manager of Walton Mohammad Shahanur Alam and other media workers were present.
A total of four teams made with Khulna journalists are participating in the tournament. The final match of the tournament will be held on November 10. Rupsha Tigers fought Shivsa Warriors in the opening match.
