Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) has expressed its commitment to work for taking back the losing Bangabazar traders, hit by recent fire, to their previous position.
MCCI President made the commitment on Wednesday while addressing a ceremony, organized by the MCCI to distribute donation check among a total of 142 traders of Bangamarket at Maticheel in the capital.
Members of the chamber, President of Bangladesh Dokan Malik samity, Helal Uddin Ahmed and loosing traders were present on the occasion among others.
While addressing, MCCI President Saiful Islam also said “We can perceive that it is really difficult to help all the loosing traders, but we have been able to stand by at least 142 traders who have been given with Tk. 1 lac each so that at least they can turn back a little bit before the festival of Eid.
The devastating fire incidence at Bangamarket on April 4 has caused a huge loss of more than Tk. 1,500 crore. The loosing traders have been fighting hard to get back to their livelihood.
Expressing deep sympathy to the loosing traders and their troubled family members, Saiful Islam said “as a trade body we are always beside you, we are pledge bound to work together so that you can turn around once again gradually.”
President of Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity, Helal Uddin Ahmed, while addressing, praised the decision of MCCI and urged the affluent people and business bodies to extend their possible support to mitigate the losses, incurred by the Bangamarket traders.
