Chairman of Bangladesh National Awami Party (Bangladesh NAP) Jebel Rahman Ghaani and Secretary General M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan have demanded that the safety of workers be ensured during the coronavirus crisis as well as providing them with food, clothing, shelter and medical treatment.
They made the demanded in a press statement issue on Thursday (April 30) on the occasion of May Day.
The two leaders conveyed their deep respect and best wishes to all the hardworking people of the world including Bangladesh on this great day and said that the inherent strength and significance of May Day should be followed in all spheres of our national, state and social life.
Parsons, the great leader of the Chicago labor movement, stood on the gallows and said, “We are sacrificing our lives to establish the demands of all the people of the world.”
They said that the working class is still deprived of their just rights due to the negligence of the ruling class of Bangladesh. On the one hand the owner class is looting and the working class is fighting.
During the current coronavirus crisis, it is the job of the looters to force some workers to open garments and factories and force them to join work. In the current situation, it is extremely reckless to open a garment factory.
Jebel Rahman Ghaani and Mostafa Bhuiyan also said that the safety of garment workers needs to be ensured to keep them running in case of emergency.
In case of emergency, it is necessary to ensure adequate arrangements for the workers to stay and eat in the existing garments, travel, work while maintaining physical distance, provision of necessary health-protection materials including masks, sanitation, etc. During this time, layoffs cannot be done.
