All materials except the ballot papers for holding the 12th Parliamentary Elections have reached in all districts of the Rajshahi division. The ballot papers will arrive after the final allocation of the symbols.
Already some 50,000 transparent ballot boxes have arrived. The polling centres and the rooms for the polling booths have also been selected. This year, a total of 17,15,451 (Seventeen lakh fifteen thousand four hundred and fifty-one) voters have been increased in 39 parliamentary seats of the Rajshahi division.
As a result, the total number of voters in the division is now 1,54,37,340 ( One crore fifty-four lakh thirty-seven thousand three hundred forty). In the 11th Parliamentary Elections, in 2018, the number of total voters was 1,37,57,889 ( One crore thirty-seven lahks fifty-seven thousand eight hundred eighty-nine).
According to the Rajshahi Regional Election Office, polls will be held at 5,436 polling centres and in 34,059 rooms this year.
In six electoral seats of Rajshahi district, the total number of voters is 21,77,761, in six seats of Sirajganj district, the total voters are 25,14, 134, in five seats of Pabna district, the total voters are 21,33,460, in seven seats of Bogura, the total voters are 28,32,520, in two seats of Joypurhat district, the total voters are 7,79,220, in three seats of Chapainawabganj, the total voters are 13,54,553, in six seats of Naogaon district, the total number of voters is 22,21,908 and in four seats of Natore district, the total number of voters is 14,59,784.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer of Rajshahi Shamim Ahmed has published a public notice mentioning the dates of submission of the Nomination Papers and the allocation of symbols for the candidates to contest the Parliamentary Elections from the Rajshahi-1( Godagari-Tanore) constituency. The notice further mentioned that the willing candidates would be able to submit their nomination papers and withdraw those in accordance with the schedules of the Election Commission. The nominations would also be submitted online, the notice added.
A source from Rajshahi District Police informed the highest security measures have been taken to hold a free and fair poll. The police remain alert so that no law and order situation deteriorates centring the elections.
