Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) are going to launch a massive drive across the country from May to detect fake doctors. The drive will also be conducted to find out if the BMDC and BMAorder to a physician to put registration and phone number while preparing prescriptions is being flouted.
BMA Secretary GeneralEhteshamul Hoque Chowdhuryrecently confirmed this while talking to the media.“Earlier we served awarning of license cancellation if the order is violated, but allegations galore that many doctors across the country are not following the instruction properly or at all,” he said. The image of original doctors is being tarnished by these fake doctors, he said, adding that fake physicians are cheating on patients for a long time with forged BMDClicence.Against this backdrop, said MrChowdhury, “We shall launch a massive drive against them in May. Licenses of those doctors who are flouting the order will be postponed.”

Earlier, the anti-crime elite force rapid Action Battalion (Rab), in a number of drives, unearthed bizarre and hard-to-believe stories of bogus physicians who were even popular among their patients. According to Rab, many greedy persons with poor educational qualifications, as low as class eight or even uneducated, have become‘MBBS’ doctors overnight with counterfeit licenses.
Among the already nabbed, somewhere even rickshaw-pullers while some were fruit sellers by profession. According to Rab officials, still there are a huge number of fake doctors who are illegally practicing medicine mostly at local pharmacies and clinics. “These fake doctors are mostly active in below-par clinics and diagnostic centers located investment in the sector is a must, headed. The minister said all these while speaking as the chief guest at a conference on ‘Role of RenewableEnergy to Build My Village, My Town’at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital. Bangladesh Solar and RenewableEnergy Association (BSREA) organized the conference.MA Mannan said, “Our villages will become towns soon.
There is no disagreement or controversy. As the country's technology and education are moving forward, the people of villages will also transform themselves.” However, we can do it in a faster and systematic way. The government is accelerating this transformation from inside,” the minister added. Mannan said the negative impacts of fossil fuel have increased on the environment, which is very harmful to survive on earth.“We must take various initiatives to increase the use of renewable energy and reduce the use of fossil fuels. There is no other alternative to it,” the minister continued. He further said the use of renewable energy is increasing day by day in the world.
Bangladesh is also committed to bring progress in the sector. More than 55 lakh solar home systems (SHS) have been installed in Bangladesh, which is the largest SHS initiative in the world.“Currently, farmers are getting irrigation facilities by solar irrigation systems. Besides, solar streetlight has also been installed in important places of rural areas. However, solar power generation is increasing by using of rooftop solar panels,” the minister added. At the conference, the managing director of Vitti Sthapati Brindo IqbalHabib delivered the keynote speech. Iqbal Habib, who is also an architect and a city planner, said the invention of solar stove system can protect hundreds of people from respiratory diseases caused by wood and oil stoves.

The invention of solar-powered floating schools can help enlighten the minds of children through education,he said, adding that through the start-up of solar micro-grid sharing communities can help each other with their surplus production of electricity.“On special occasions every year,we say we are going home, which means even though our houses are in the city our real homes are in the serenity of villages.
And we must do what is necessary to keep our villages alive and healthy,” Iqbal added.
