Sylhet Strikers Mashrafe Mortaza was happy with the wicket of Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, he said both the batters and bowlers found the track productive during BPL.
BPL has suffered many criticisms for the common shortcomings in the ninth edition, however, Mortaza has backed that they are being able to play a much better wicket in the Dhaka phase.
“The batsmen are getting a good batting opportunity on this wicket. And most importantly, it’s getting better for the bowlers. If you play on such a wicket, the ability of the bowlers also increases. In such wickes the bowlers’ skills get tested against the batters. It would be good to play on such a wicket. Despite thousand of lackings in BPL, at least the wicket is good, the game is getting better,” said Mashrafe.
Mashrafe-led Sylhet strikers ended the first phase of BPL standing unbeaten, they registered a 62-run win against Dhaka Dominators in their recent clash. Mashrafe’s father was present to witness Sylhet’s remarkable victory on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, Mashrafe’s father expressed his desire to see his son in the BCB. He said he wants his son’s cricket knowledge to be helpful for the country.
“We want him to do what he knows best. He can do much better if he works at BCB. I can say it emphatically. Everyone understands that if he works with cricket, he will do very well. I certainly would,” he said.
Regarding Mashrafe’s retirement from all forms of cricket, he said, “I haven’t talked to him about this yet. As long as he has the strength of mind… he knows very well what is possible and what is not possible. I have nothing to say. If he thinks it is possible, he will continue it, if he doesn’t think it is possible, he will not continue it,”
