On the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day - 2021, people of all classes and professions, including the district administration, paid their respects at the Gopalganj massacre site.
On the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Shahida Sultana laid a wreath at the altar of the memorial plaque near Gopalganj Upazila Parishad premises on Tuesday (December 14) morning.
Later, a minute's silence was observed in honor of the martyred intellectuals. After that, a well-equipped contingent of district police saluted all the martyrs.
Later, District Freedom Fighters Parliament, Police Administration, District Awami League, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Administration, various educational institutions and all government and semi-government institutions in the district separately presented wreaths and paid their respects to all the martyrs.
Gopalganj district Awami League general secretary Mahabub Ali Khan, Sadar upazila chairman Bir Muktijoddha Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Bachchu, former commander of the district Muktijoddha Sangsad Md. Badruddoza Badar, Additional Superintendent of Police. Abdur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner. Eliasur Rahman, Md. Usman Gani, Md. Iqbal Hossain, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer. Rashedur Rahman, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Milon Saha, officers and employees of various organizations and people of all classes and professions were present.

Earlier, a candle was lit by Gopalganj Sadar Upazila administration in the early hours of the night on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day. He also paid homage to the martyred intellectuals by laying wreaths at the martyr’s altars in Muksudpur, Kashiani, Kotalipara and Tungipara upazilas of the district to preserve their memory.
