The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three as squally weather is likely to affect maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas, reports BSS.
“Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining area as deep convection is taking place over North Bay under the influence of strong monsoon. So, the maritime ports are advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three,” said a met office weather bulletin here on Monday.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Horiyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to northeast Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay.
Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country. Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
