Marine Journalists’ Network-MJN, the platform of marine environment and ocean economy reporting-based journalists working in mainstream media outlets in Bangladesh, has formed its new executive committee for the 2023-2024 session.
Rashad Ahamad of Daily New Age and Kafayet Shakil of Bangla Vision were elected as president and general secretary respectively.
The new executive committee was formed following the biannual general meeting of the Marine Journalists’ Network-MJN held at a restaurant in the city on Tuesday (December 5, 2023).
Chief Election Commissioner Muhammad Anowarul Hoque (Gazi Anowar), who is founding president of the MJN; announced the new committee following unanimous decision of the members of the organisation at the biannual general meeting.
Outgoing president Golam Mowla of Bangla Tribune and outgoing general secretary Sajed Razu of China Radio International were two other election commissioners.
Other office-bearers of the new executive committee are: vice-president Ehsanul Haque Jasim of Daily Bangladesh Post; joint-general secretary Sadia Chowdhury of Deepto TV; finance secretary Niloy Mamun of Daily Ittefaq; organising secretary Jahidul Islam of The Business Standard; office, publicity & publication secretary Faruque Ahmad Arif of Daily Protidiner Bangladesh; and international affairs secretary Mokarram Hossain of Ekhon TV;
Executive members are: Jasim Uddin Mahir of Dhaka Post; Delowar Hossain Dolon of Daily Kalbela and Reza Mahmud of Daily New Nation.
Meanwhile, the biannual general meeting took place with outgoing president Golam Mowla in the chair, while outgoing general secretary Sajed Razu moderated the event.
