In the middle of my professional duties, I witnessed people gathering in the Kunjaban Bazar area of Mahadevpur Upazila, maintaining a socially safe distance, with a middle-aged man playing harmonium with anklets tied to his feet and painting his face. His songs and tunes were full of awareness about the need to prevent the pandemic coronavirus.
Asked about his identity, the man trying to raise awareness about coronavirus said his name was Babul Hossain. His age is approximately 48 years.
His father's name was Afaz Uddin Khan and his home was at Bhutla Vimpur village in Naogaon Sadar upazila. His wife's name is Fatema Begum. He does not have any land of his own. He has four daughters. The youngest daughter is only one year old. He has been living with his family in his elder sister's house for 15-20 years.
Since the appearance of the corona virus, there has been no permission to do anything and he lost his source of income. As a result, Babul Hossain took such an initiative to make people aware by spreading the melody through the instructional campaign of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in order to create awareness in different upazilas of the district by renting a harmonium for one hundred taka per day.
Babul said, “I am trying to create awareness among the people by playing a song on the prevention of corona virus. On the other hand, many people listen to awareness songs and give me tips.” By doing this, he earns two to three hundred taka every day.
