Uncle and nephew were electrocuted in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj. The incident took place at Mirzapur village of the upazila around 1pm on Sunday (August 16).
The deceased were identified as Azizul Haque (55) son of late Siraj Uddin and Rabbi (13) son of Bazlul Haque.
According to local sources, Rabbi touched the live electric wire on the bank of the pond near his house at 1 pm on Sunday and was electrocuted. Uncle Azizul Haque was also electrocuted while trying to rescue him. Later, the locals rescued the two and took them to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared both of them dead.
Pakundia Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mohammad Shyamal Mia confirmed the information of two deaths due to electrocution.
