A man was killed and two others were critically injured as a train hit an auto-rickshaw at Masinda area under Kalihati Upazila of Tangail on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Litchi trader Abu taleb, son of Asar Ali, resident of Chatihati village of the Upazila.
Team leader of Elenga Fire Service Belal Hossain said the accident occurred when Abu Taleb was returning from Elenga market in an auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw was crossing the railway line at Mosinda area and was hit by the Ekota Express coming from Rajshahi, leaving three people including the driver critically injured. Abu Taleb died on the way to Tangail General hospital. Two other injured are now being treated in the hospital.
In-Charge of the hospital police outpost Atikur Rahman said the body is kept in Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
It will be handed over to the family of the victim after completing legal procedures.
