A man named Mong Shing Shwe Marma (36) was shot dead by terrorists in Ward 1 of Roangchhari Natun Para in Bandarban on Saturday.
He is the son of late Ning Sha Aung Marma in Roangchhari Sadar Union. According to local and police sources, three to four terrorists shot dead Mangsingh Shai Marma on Saturday while he was taking a bath near his house in Roangchhari Natun Para and fled away. He died on the spot.
One person, who did not want to be named, said that he was active in Jana Sanghati Samiti politics but had been inactive for several years before the election.
When contacted by Roangchhari Upazila Parishad Chairman Chahai Mong Marmar, said, “It was not known who or what caused the incident.”
When asked about the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Roangchhari Police Station Md. Abdul Mannan said, “After hearing the incident, they went to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for autopsy.” He said legal action would be taken subject to investigation. Who caused the incident will be known after proper investigation. This unwanted situation raises tension, he said, adding that law enforcement patrols have been intensified.
