The court sentenced an accused named Chhattar Mia (50) to 10-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) in the case of killing his wife in Brahmanbaria. At the same time, he was fined Tk 5,000.
Brahmanbaria Court Senior Sessions and District Judge Sharmin Nigar passed the verdict on Wednesday afternoon. At that time accused Sattar was present in the court session.
The convict is the son of deceased Sanu Mia of Hindupara of Suhilpur Union of District Sadar Upazila of Chattar.

According to court sources, on May 28, 2018, a woman named Josna Begum, a mother of four children, was stabbed to death in Hindupara of Suhilpur Union of Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila. Josna was the wife of Chattar Mia and daughter of Abdul Mannaf from the same area.
In this incident, Abdul Mannaf filed a case at Sadar Model Police Station accusing four people including the victim's husband Sattar as the plaintiff. Police arrested Sattar in this murder case.
Later Sattar confessed the killing in the section 164 statement before the magistrate. On November 5 of the same year, the investigating officer of the case filed a charge sheet in the court accusing the main accused Sattar as there was no connection between three of the four accused.
The court gave the verdict on Wednesday as the complaint was proven after analyzing all the witness-evidence.
In the meantime, his prison term will be removed from the sentence.
