Md Asad Mollah, proprietor of Raju Sanitary started his business at Rupganj Bus Stand-Gohatkhola area in the district town at the end of 2019 with a capital of only Tk150. Business integrity and dedication have brought him to the brink of success in a span of one and a half years.
He is now self-sufficient through selling quality ventilators, pillars, flower tubs, rugs, rings, stoves, stove pipes including other materials. In addition to making and selling these, he now sells various timbers for building houses including bricks and sand.
Md Asad Mollah said that before starting this business, he used to work as a carpenter. He also had a reputation in the society as a good carpenter. Asad's ancestral home is in Jasobantapur village of Palashbaria union in Mohammadpur upazila of Magura district. He currently lives in Rupganj Gohatkhola area.
He has his wife, four sons, a daughter and mother in his family. It would have been impossible to meet the expenses of the family with the money earned from working as a carpenter. So he kept looking for another creative job in his mind.
One and a half years ago, he went to Kabir's shop in Rupganj to buy pillars. After seeing the construction work of pillars, ventilators and other materials in Kabir's sanitary, he decided to start this work himself. He rented a place at Gohatkhola on the south side of Rupganj bus stand to start the construction of sanitary ware.
At that time his capital was only one hundred and fifty taka. Seeing the honesty and devotion of Asad Mollah, the late Mayor of Narail Municipality Md. Jahangir Biswas and prominent businessman in Rupganj bazar Alok Kundu gave him 10 decimals of the land without rent for the purpose of expanding his business.
At present, 10 workers work in his sanitary factory every day. Besides building sanitary ware, another dream came to his mind. Many helpless poor people of the area could not build houses due to lack of money, he started constructing houses with two rooms, bathrooms and verandas for the poor people.
The construction cost of each house is 80,000 taka and he takes one-third of the money and gradually takes the rest from the house owner for two years. In this way, he has built 1600 houses for the poor people of Sardarpara, Gohatkhola, Bashvita and other areas of the district.
Parul and Nazmeen of Auria village in Narail Sadar Upazila, Rupganj Sardarpara Subodh said they could not build a house due to lack of money. They said that Asad Mollah came forward to build their house and got a place to live with their family.
