Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested a man with 1.5 kg of crystal meth ice at Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.
BGB Teknaf 2 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Faisal Hasan Khan said the operation was carried out at midnight on Tuesday in Godarbeel area of Sadar Union in Teknaf Upazila.
Detained Md. Abdul Majid (20) is the son of Hossain Ali of Madhyam Godarbeel area of Teknaf Sadar Union.
Faisal said a BGB team raided the area adjacent to Godarbeel Bazar in Teknaf Sadar Union on Tuesday midnight on reports that some people were stationed there for drug consignment transactions. BGB members instructed to stop when they saw some people walking around suspiciously at the spot. Two-thirds of the people tried to escape on a motorcycle. Later, when BGB members chased him, a man got down from his motorcycle and entered a house in the middle Godarbeel area.
“At that time, BGB members surrounded the house and searched it. They were able to arrest a suspect from the house.
Later, two packets were recovered from inside the house. Crystal meth ice weighing 1.5 kg was found in it”, the official added.
A case has been filed against the detainee under the relevant law, said Lt. Colonel Faisal.
