Local people at Godagari have nabbed a Kabiraj (Ayurvedic Practitioner) during his attempt to steal a corpse from inside a grave at Rasulpur village under Matikata union of the upazila on Wednesday evening. The Kabiraj was identified as Dilip Das, 52, son of late Jatan of the same village.
According to sources, Dilip is familiar as an Ayurvedic practitioner in the locality. He has three sons and one daughter. On Wednesday evening, he went in the dark to the grave beside the road to perform 'black-magic' and by removing the bamboo fence of the grave, he dug and entered inside the grave.
At the same time, the grand father of the deceased was passing through road and coming near the grave watched the fence of the grave removed and sensed the movement of some living being inside.
Meanwhile, watching the presence of man, Dilip came out of the grave when the grand father, being afraid, ran out from the scene crying loudly. Hearing his cry, villagers rushed to the spot and caught Dilip red handed from the spot and informed the police.
Meanwhile, some local people claimed, arrested Dilip is neither an Ayurvedic practitioner nor a Black-magic performer. He is a mentally retarded person.
Later, a police team of Godagari Police station headed by SI Ziaur Rahman visited the spot and arrested Dilip.
Nitya Pada Das, Investigation Officer of Godagari police station said, a case has been filed under section 297 and section 506 for illegal-entrance, contempt of the dead-body and for blasphemy against arrested Dilip. Dilip was sent to the court and police sought a seven-day remand for Dilip.
Lutfar Rahman, Grandfather of the deceased informed, his pregnant grand-daughter was burnt severely in fire during cooking nearly one month ago. She died during treatment 13-day ago and was buried in the grave beside the road near the village.
