A man drowned in a pond at Ruhia in Thakurgaon on Tuesday. His floating body was found from a pond in Ruhia Paschim Union area in the afternoon on the day.
The deceased was identified as Likhon Das, 25, son of Sree Prasad, resident of Mondoladam village under Sadar Upazila of Thakurgaon.
Local sources said two children were playing adjacent to the pond. They started shouting when they saw the body. Being informed by the locals, police recovered the body of the youth. Primarily, it was assumed that the deceased might fell into the pond due to epilepsy.
An unnatural death (UD) case was filed with the police station in this connection.
Ruhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Rahman said a body of a drowned person was recovered by the police. Family members of the deceased said that he was a patient of epilepsy.
