Opposition people beat a young man named Muktar Hossain to death in a dispute over a mosque committee in Jamalpur Sadar.
The murder took place at noon on Monday (August 3) in Kopalipara village of Ranorampur in Sadar upazila. The deceased was identified as Muktar Hossain, son of Farhad Hossain of Kopalipara village.
Jamalpur Additional Superintendent of Police Sima Rani Sarkar told the media that Muktar Hossain was having a dispute with his neighbor Abdul Majid and his three sons over the committee of the new Jame Mosque in Kopalipara. As a result of this dispute, he was beaten and stabbed near the mosque at noon and seriously injured. When the injured Muktar was taken to Jamalpur General Hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Police have sent the body to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy. She said those involved in the incident would be brought under the law soon.
