An uncle was allegedly beaten to death on spot by his nephew at a village in bordering Moheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Shah Alam, 45, a battery-driven van driver, son of Abdul Bari of village Berermath in Moheshpur upazila. The police had detained the killer nephew Raju Ahmed and he had given the confessional statement about the killing incident.
Locals said Shah Alam was driving his three-wheeler in the morning of Friday. Suddenly Raju at Saratola area on Jibannagar- Kotchandpur road with a piece of wood had hit on the head of his uncle Shah Alam. Locals rescued the man and sent him to Moheshpur upazila health complex (UHC) in a critical state. The attending physicians at the UHC had declared Shah Alam dead.
Mahbubur Rahman, Officer- in -Charge (OC) of Mohespur Police Station when contacted said they had arrested the killer Raju who had made a confessional statement to the police primarily. They had sent the body of Shah Alam to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue for post mortem examination. But the police could not provide detail about the clue of the killing so far. They will go for next course of action when any case will be recorded with the police, OC said.
