Mosharraf Hossain Ujjal (35), a Saudi migrant was arrested at the Airport in Dhaka while attempting to leave the country after injuring his wife by burning several spots of her body with a hot-spud demanding dowry in Noakhali.
Kazi Abdur Rahim, Additional Superintendent of Police of Noakhali sadar circle informed, Immigration Police arrested Mosharraf son of Abdul Matin of village Khanpur under Begumganj upazila of Noakhali from Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 11-30 pm on Tuesday. Mosharraf arrive in the country two-month ago.
It is learn police was searching Mosharraf after the news of torture on his wife by burning her body parts with a hot spud and trimming her hair and resisting her to be admitted in a hospital was published in newspaper on Monday. Father of the victim housewife filed a case with Sudharam Police Station accusing his son-in-law of resorting torture on his daughter.
Mosharraf escaped his house following filing of the case. Police started operation to arrest him and his photo and photocopy of passport were sent to various police stations including at the immigration authorities of the airport.
It is learnt, Mosharraf married the woman 10-year ago and they have an eight year aged child. After returning to the country of October-1, Mosharraf started to live with his wife and son at a rented house in Basirar Shop area. On Wednesday night, Mosharraf trimmed the hair of his wife and burnt several places of her body with a hot spud. At a stage of torture, his wife escaped to her father's house when she was admitted to Kabirhat Upazila Health Complex for treatment. However, Mosharraf with his cohorts again attacked her at the health complex and attempted to snatch her with followers while she was being shifted to Noakhali General Hospital for improved treatment.
Nabir Hossain, Officer in Charge of Sudharam Police Station said, Mosharraf was the only accused in the case.
