An individual accused in 13 cases, including drug peddling, extortion and snatching, was arrested by police from Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj on Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Tahin Sheikh, 30, son of Md Motaleb Sheikh, resident of Gimadanga village in Tungipara upazila of the district.
He was presented before court on Saturday morning and the court ordered to send him to Gopalganj jail. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tungipara police station, Khorshed Alam, confirmed the matter to the media.
It was learnt that, a team led by Sub-Inspector Sajidul Islam, under the instruction of OC Khorshed Alam, arrested accused Tahin Sheikh from Joydihi Bazar in Mollahat upazila of Bagerhat on Friday night.
OC Khorshed Alam said Tahin Sheikh has been committing various crimes in the area, including drug peddling, extortion and snatching, for a long time. Police arrested him by conducting a secret drive on Friday night.
