The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Prof Dr A S M Maksud Kamal, and the Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Haznah Md Hashim, had a fruitful conversation during her diplomatic visit on Sunday. Academic cooperation between DU and the Malaysian High Commissioner is being considered at the meeting.
Distinguished guests, Anis Wajdi Mohd Yusof, Head of Chancery of the High Commission, and Prof. Mazura Mastura Muhammad of the University of Pendidikan Sultan Idris, graced the meeting, which took place at the Vice-Chancellor's office.
The topic of discussion was how to strengthen the current collaborative research and academic projects between Dhaka University and several universities in Malaysia. They specifically looked into the possibilities for improving cooperative programs and encouraging interactions between academics and students.
During the discussion, an important suggestion surfaced: Dhaka University and the University of Pendidikan Sultan Idris should co-publish a research journal.
Ms. Haznah Md. Hashim underscored the enduring bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia, expressing optimism for their continued reinforcement. In reciprocation, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal extended gratitude to the High Commissioner for her ardent interest in Dhaka University's academic and research endeavors. Subsequently, the Malaysian High Commissioner toured the Centre of Malay Studies at Dhaka University's Institute of Modern Languages, further deepening the exploration of potential collaborations in academic realms.
The diplomatic overture between Malaysia and Bangladesh, as evidenced by Ms. Haznah Md. Hashim's visit, not only reaffirms the robust friendship between the two nations but also signals a promising trajectory for academic synergies and cultural exchanges in the future.
