Acting High Commissioner (HC) of Malaysia to Bangladesh Amir Farid Abu Hasan called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman on Sunday at his office on the university campus. Former Professor of Malaysia Sarawak University Dr Zin Zawawi Zakaria was also present at the meeting.
During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest. They exchanged views regarding the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on palm oil, rubber, water, soil management, environment and other arenas among DU and Malaysian universities. Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman praised the High Commissioner of the history, academic and research programmes of DU in brief. He said, an excellent friendly relation has been prevailing between Bangladesh and Malaysia for long time.
Amir Farid Abu Hasan said, Malaysia is interested to work together with Bangladesh in various sectors including education. He informed DU VC that Malaysian Prime Minister is expected to pay a visit to Bangladesh in early next year to attend a gala programme marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He sought a programme for Malaysian Prime Minister at DU during his Bangladesh visit.
In this regard, Dr Akhtaruzzaman assured the Malaysian Acting High Commissioner of chalking out a programme for Malaysian Prime Minister through discussion with concerned authorities.
“We will be happy to welcome the Malaysian Prime Minister at DU,” the VC added.
