In a gesture of solidarity with Bangladesh, Malaysian High Commissioner in Dhaka Haznah Md Hashim has lauded the government’s initiative to relocate Rohingyas from Cox’s Bazar to Bhasan Char.
“The recent initiative by Bangladesh to gradually move the Rohingya refugees from Cox’s Bazar to Bashan Char aimed at ensuring their security, safety and welfare is commendable,” the High Commissioner said while handing over the Malaysia Field Hospital for Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar to Bangladesh government.
He also reiterated Malaysia’s support to Bangladesh and said “Malaysia has been and will continue to highlight the Rohingya plight through bilateral and multilateral fora towards finding a long-term and sustainable solution to the crisis.”
“On this historic day, please be assured that Malaysia will continue to support Bangladesh in its efforts to handle the Rohingya refugees,” he said.
The government is relocating 100,000 Rohingyas in a nearby river island Bhasan Char from Cox’s Bazar to decongest the crowded camps.
