Irrawaddy News: Chinland Defense Force (Hakha) reports it killed 15 junta soldiers and captured four, including a major, while seizing their Kiamtlan outpost, 1.6 km from Chin State’s Hakha town.
Combined Chinland Defense Forces (CDF) attacked the outpost on Monday as part of Operation Rung. Nine weapons, dozens of magazines, and landmines were also seized in the attack, CDF-Hakha said Wednesday.
“We took prisoners of war and detained them in a safe place,” a CDF-Hakha spokesman said.
“We learned that some of them were involved in torching houses in Thantlang, so we will question them.”
He added that CDF-Hakha had not deployed troops in Kiamtlan after seizing the base.
Regime forces responded to the defeat by sending a column from Hakha and another from the opposite direction in a pincer movement against Chin fighters, said the spokesman.
“Clashes are occurring daily. We are being attacked from two directions. There are also clashes near outposts along the Hakha-Thantlang road. The regime is conducting carries frequent airstrikes. And fighting is ongoing in Thantlang,” said the spokesman.
The regime recently retook control of bases seized by Chin resistance groups between Hakha and Thantlang towns, but fighting has continued in the area.
Around 200 junta reinforcements have arrived in Thantlang town, according to CDF-Hakha.
