Naser Sharier Zahedi Mahul, Awami League Jhenaidah district unit vice president, an independent candidate with the symbol Eagle from Jhenaidah-2 seat comprising Jhenaidah sadar and Harinakundu upazilas exchanged views with journalists at Musa Mia Language and ICT centre in the town on Friday morning.

A number of injured people fallen victims of attack by his rivals in the 12th national polls.

He also criticized the ‘mysterious’ role of Jhenaidah sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) in maintaining law and orders in the area.

In the crowded press conference, the independent candidate said his rival candidate incumbent lawmaker Tahjib Alam Siddiquee’s supporters have been attacking his men and ransacking their properties without any instigation. A number of injured persons were present during the press conference.

Naser Sharier Zahedi Mahul said, although he could not manage the party symbol of Awami league, he was given the symbol by the same authority to contest the polls with the symbol Eagle in Jhenaiidah-2 seat.

When the district administration and local administration have been playing positive role to make the polling day and the events a success, the supporters of boat symbolic candidate have been conducting attack and vandalism on his supporters and their vehicles without any instigation.

But the present police station OC was working for the boat symbolic candidate breaching the norms of duty and responsibility. Rather, he (OC) has been recording cases against his innocent men for an unknown reason.

He had warned of for any situation if the intentional activities of the OC were proved in near future.

Mahul said the ever-neglected people of Jhenaidah-2 seat will obviously elect him as their representative in the next parliament to serve for them when the Prime Minster Shekh Hasina was dreaming for a “Smart Bangladesh” to fulfill her father’s dream of “Sonarbangla”.
