Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, MP, said that people of all walks of life love Mathathero because of what he has done during his lifetime.
Bir Bahadur Ushaing, MP, was addressing as the chief guest at a function organised in memory of the late Buddhist cleric Satyapriya Mahathero at Ramu Central Bihar premises in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday.
The activities of late Mahathero have earned him the unprecedented reputation so that even after his death so many people love and respect him which can be witnessed by watching the attendance of thousands of devotees to pay homage for the departed soul, mentioned the Minister.
At the death of the great religious ‘Guru’ Mahathero, the Buddhist society lost a great guardian, the minister said.
Earlier, the minister reached the boundary of Bihar and said, he was attending the function to pay homage to the departed Buddhist cleric Pandit Satyapriya Mahathero in favour of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and offered floral tribute in favour of her.
Apart from commemoration ceremonies, thousands of Buddhist nuns paid homage and held religious ceremonies on Wednesday, with a large gathering at the monuments, offering donations, holding congregation, guest banquet, commemoration meetings and a grand exhibition of the two hundred and sixty-sixth anniversary celebrations.
Presided over by Gyan Shree Mahathir, the ceremony was attended among others, by Deputy Confederates Priyo Mahathero, General Secretary of Bangladesh Monks S. Lokjit Mahathero, Chittagong Nandan Kannan Buddhist Bihar Chief Satyapriya Mahather's disciple Priyat Mahathero and monk Sunanda Priyo.
Special guests at the function wee Minister of State for Social Welfare Sharif Ahmed, Member of Parliament Syamum Sarwar Kamal, Kaniz Fatema Mostak, Ashek Ullah Rafiq, Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Kamal Hossain, Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain, District Awami League General Secretary and Municipal Mayor.
