A magistrate on Thursday testified in the case lodged over the alleged rape of two private university students in Raintree hotel of Banani area in the capital in 2017, reports BSS.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury, who recorded the statements of the accused under section 164, testified in the case.
Dhaka 7th Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Khadem Ul Kayes then adjourned the hearing of the case till September 4. Police brought prime accused Safat Ahmed and Naim Ashraf before the court from jail, while Safat’s friend Sadman Sakif, bodyguard Rahmat Ali, and driver Billal Hossain, who are out on bail, also appeared before the court for the hearing.
Safat, son of Apan Jewelers owner Dildar Ahmed, and his friends allegedly raped the two girls on March 28, 2017, after bringing them to the hotel for a birthday party.
A victim filed the case on May 6, 2017, with Banani Police Station. Police filed charge sheet on June 8, 2017, against five including Safat in the case.
On July 13, 2017, the court framed charges against the accused.
