Abdul Gafur, assistant superintendent of Gopalpur Ichapur Aminia Dakhil Madrasa under Sharsha Upazila of Jashore, has been accused of violating a madrasa student.
The incident allegedly took place in the madrasa room on Thursday. The incident was suppressed for a day under the pressure of influential people but it was leaked later on Friday afternoon.
The victim went home crying and told her family that Abdul Gafur, had forcibly violated her. Later, the girl's father and the villagers went to the madrasa, but Abdul Gafur fled away.
Local UP member Abdus Salam said, "I have informed Sharsha UNO after hearing about the incident. He asked the Officer-In-charge of Sharsha police station to look into the matter.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Sharsha Pulak Kumar Mandal said that after receiving the news of the incident through UP member Abdus Salam, the police officer was instructed to take action. Sharsha Police Station OC Badrul Alam said the UNO had asked him to look into the matter. A case was filed in this connection and police is trying to arrest the accused.
Locals have also complained that influential people are trying desperately to settle the matter.
