Madrasa teacher shot at Noakhali

A madrasa teacher was critically injured as some miscreants shot him at Begumganj-Sonaimuri road in Mirwarishpur village under Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Amir Hamza, 40, son of Ashik Talukdar, resident of Hossainpur village under Kochua thana of Chandpur district, principal of Markajul Huffaj International Madrasa in Sonaimuri.

The police claimed the miscreants shot him to rob his motorcycle.

Local sources said, On Wednesday night around 11:30 Amir Hamza was going somewhere on his motorcycle when miscreants wearing helmets stopped him. At one stage, the miscreants fired several rounds of bullet at him. He was shot in the back. Later, the miscreants left him on the street and fled the scene. The locals rescued Amir Hamza and took him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital first. From there he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Officer-in-Charge of Begumganj Police Station Md. Anwarul Islam said the miscreants tried to rob the teacher's motorcycle and shot him when they failed. 

On information, police visited the spot. No one has filed formal complaint regarding this matter till now.
