Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain on Tuesday said Madrasa students are willing to do volunteer work in the upcoming Durga Puja festival if the puja committee wants.
The adviser came up with the disclosure after a meeting on the law and order situation centering Durga Puja in the meeting room of the Ministry of Religion at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The meeting was presided over by Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
The religious adviser said that there will be helicopters in the sky during Durga Puja festival for security. There will be divers on the tenth day (Bijaya Dashami).
He said that the students of the Madrasa said that they are willing to work as volunteers if the puja committee wants.
In the past we used to send a summary to the Prime Minister before Durga Puja. Taka two to three crore were granted. This is the first time that the chief adviser has donated Tk 4 crore to the puja. We will make a list and distribute the money to the poor temples through the Deputy Commissioners.
Beside these, Khalid Hossain said that earlier each pujamandap was given 500 kg of rice and said that through this meeting we will send a proposal to the concerned ministry (Disaster Management and Relief Ministry) for another 200 kg of rice to be increased. If not, at least 100 kg should be increased.
The adviser further said that if any miscreant obstructs the puja activities, the interim government will resist them strongly. We want to establish a society without discrimination.
