The lowest 5.5 degree Celsius temperature was recorded in Sreemangal of Moulvibazaar of the country on Monday (February 1).
The Meteorological Office recorded 5.5 degree Celsius temperature in Sreemangol at 9:00 AM, informed Anisur Rahman, Official of Sreemangol Meteorological Observation Centre.
Due to a decreased day-temperature, the intensity of cold is felt severely among the people of Sreemangol. The cool weather and dense-fog was increasing the sufferings of working people living beside the Haor and the Tea garden.
Due to extreme cold, there was a less number of vehicles moving through the roads of the town in the morning. Movement of people through the city roads was also thin.
Anisur Rahman further informed, a moderate, mid-level of cold wave was blowing through the Moulvi Bazaar district. The intensity of cold may increase further and the cold would continue in the district for next several days.
The district encircled by Haor and hills, low income group people of Sreemangal are the worst sufferers in the cold.
Mir Nahid Ahsan, Deputy Commissioner of Moulvi Bazaar in this connection said, not a single person of sveven upazilas of Moulvi Bazaar will suffer from cold during this winter. He added, there are blankets gifted for the cold-hit people from the Prime Minister. Those blankets have been sent to various unions through the UNOs which are already being distributed among the cold-hit people.
