Bangladesh opener Litton Das did not fly from Bangladesh to Sri Lanka yesterday for the Asia Cup due to fever and he is still recovering from the illness, will not join the team today either.

Bangladesh Cricket Board selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu confirmed the matter to Cricfrenzy as he said “Litton is recovering, he is not going today. Hopefully, he will play from the first match. For now, we are not thinking of sending anyone from the backup squad.”

Although Litton tested negative for dengue, there are concerns whether he will be able to recover from fever before Bangladesh's opening match.

Bangladesh squad led by Shakib al Hasan left the country yesterday, with young pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has also missed the flight due to technical issues, is however expected to join the side on Monday.

Bangladesh team will have three days for their practice ahead of the tournament proper. The Tigers are drawn in Group B along with co-host Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

They will, however, start their mission on August 31, taking of Sri Lanka at Pallekele. Bangladesh will then face off Afghanistan on September 3 at Lahore, Pakistan.
