A linkage meeting has been held in Ukhia of Cox's Bazar district at the initiative of Bita, a private development organisation.

The meeting was arranged under the non-governmental development organisation Bita’s JF-CPIE project, in collaboration with Plan International, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO).

Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Nizam Uddin presided over the meeting held at Ukhia Upazila Agriculture Office hall at 10:30am on Thursday.

In his speech, Nizam Uddin said, “You will be connected with the government institutions. We provide demonstration plots to many families every year and alternative arrangements for seeds, fertilizers and pesticides are also given there. Apart from this, all the suggestions for agricultural development are given from this department.”

Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Nurul Alam Majumdar said the government provides 22 types of training through the Directorate of Youth Development to educate the youths in technical education so that they can face the future challenges. These trainings are available in both residential and non-residential forms.

Ukhia Animal Resources Officer Dr Syed Hossain said the government services are limited.

He called upon the beneficiaries associated with Bita who are rearing cows and goats to come directly to the animal resources office with their skinny cows and goats.

President of Ukhia Press Club Syed Mohammad Anwar said people should learn to stand on their own feet. “Don't be dependent. Your good deeds will inspire the needy and youths around us. If the recipients of aid can really change their situation, it will improve their families.”

JF-CPIE Project Coordinator Morshed Alam was present on behalf of Bita in the meeting. CBCP Coordinator Md Didarul Alam, Livelihood Officer Md Abdul Awal Sarkar and Bishal Talukdar, among others, were present.
