A farmer was killed due to lightning strike while he went on a field for grazing his cow at Damurhuda in Chuadanga on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Sahar Ali, 40, son of Nobichhoddir, resident of Joyrampur Nowda Para village under Damurhuda upazila of the district.
Locals said Sahar Ali went on a field in Putimari Khal area at the village for grazing his cow. He was struck by lightning at around 5:00pm. Later, locals rescued him and took him Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor Fahmida Akter declared him dead.
Damurhuda Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Helena Akhter Nipa said that a person named Shahar Ali was brought to the hospital's emergency department after being injured by lightning. However, he died before reaching the hospital.
