A mason was killed and three others were injured as they were struck by lightning at an under-construction building at Khalilpur village under Nilganj union in Kalapara of Patuakhali on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Jakir Fakir, 60, resident of Khalilpur village of the district. The injured are- Yeasin Fakir, Alauddin Gazi and Rezaul Gazi.
Relatives of the victims said the four people were working at an under-construction building in the area on Monday. They were struck by lightning when they tried to move to a safe place from the building site amid heavy rain, leaving them injured critically.
They were rushed to Kalapara Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Jakir Fakir dead. The injured were receiving treatment at the hospital.
Kalapara Thana Police said that they were informed about the death due to lightning strike. On information, police personnel went to the spot.
