Li Jiming, Ambassador of China in Bangladesh, made a courtesy visit to AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League and Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation at the latter's office on Thursday morning.
After the meeting, RCC Mayor informed the journalists that China is our intimate friendly country and one of our major development associates. Most of the large infrastructures of our country are being constructed by Chinese companies or their engineers. We would be benefitted if such a development trend continues.
RCC Mayor further said, during the meeting, Ambassador Li Jiming has lauded highly the cleanliness and greenery of Rajshahi City.
He further informed, Bangladesh and China signed a memorandum in 2016 to supply water of the river Padma through pumps to Godagari Municipality, Naohata municipality, Kantakhali Municipality and in Rajshahi City Corporation areas. The deal is at its latest stage and Chinese Exim Bank would release the fund for the project after finally signing the contract. He mentioned China has also shown interest in treatment of solid waste and to make fuel and biofertilizer and to use the drainage water through treatment for using that in agriculture. He said, Chinese government has also expressed interest to take lease and resume production of closed Rajshahi Jute Mills, Textile Mills and the Sugar Mills.
Ambassador Li Jiming mentioned he was visiting Rajshahi city for a very short time and he was enchanted by the beauty of this green, clean city. He added, many more companies are interested to invest in Bangladesh and hoped the relation between the two countries would further strengthen.
Earlier in the morning Chinese Ambassador Li Jiming was greeted with a floral tribute by the RCC councillor and the officials at the main gate of Nagar Bhaban.
