Md Abdur Rashid Khan joined as the Chief Engineer of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). He was working at LGED headquarters as Additional Chief Engineer earlier. On Saturday, April 25 he took over as the new Chief Engineer. He replaced the former Chief Engineer Md. Matiar Rahman.
Md. Abdur Rashid Khan started his career as an Assistant Engineer in November of 1986 by joining the then LGED. He was promoted to Executive Engineer in 2002 and served as Project Director for various projects. In January 2016, he was promoted to Supervising Engineer and headed the LGED Headquarters.
In November 2016, he was promoted to Additional Chief Engineer and served as Additional Chief Engineer (Training, Planning, Design and Research and Rural Infrastructure Development and Management) at LGED Headquarters.
Md. Abdur Rashid Khan was born in an aristocratic Muslim family in Domar village in Kahalu upazila of Bogura district. His father was the late Mr. Abdul Karim Khan and his mother was the late Jahanara Begum. He graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) in 1974 with a degree in Civil Engineering.
He later earned an MSc in Construction Management from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He has also traveled to various countries in Asia including Nepal, Italy, Kenya, Colombia, Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Argentina and Chile to enhance his professional skills.
