Less tourists in Cox’s Bazar during Eid holiday

A huge influx of tourists are visiting Cox's Bazar district during the holy Eid-ul-Azha holiday.  Travelers can be seen taking bath and enjoying the sea at every point. However, most of the tourists are from areas adjacent to the district. The hotels are still not full with travelers. Hotel owners say that a total of 30 percent of the capacity comes from tourists. Hotel owners are expecting more tourists from next Thursday. Special measures have been taken for the safety of the incoming tourists.

As it is the rainy season,  many of the hotel owners are worried about the arrival of tourists in Cox's Bazar. An average of 30/35 thousand tourists visit the beach every day during the Eid-ul-Adha holiday. In other years, during Eid-ul-Azha holiday, Cox’s Bazar is attended by more than one lakh tourists every day, but this time it is much less than that. Leaders of the Hotel Motel Owners' Association said the tourists did not come as expected this time. They are hoping that the tourist crowd in Cox's Bazar may increase in the future.

Abul Kashem Sikder, president of the Cox's Bazar Hotel Guest House Owners' Association, Cox's Bazar at this time only have 30% tourists of its full capacity. He hopes that the rate of tourist arrivals will increase many times from next Thursday.

Talking to many tourists at Laboni Point and Sugandha Point on the beach, most of the incoming tourists are locals. Local tourists Ikram Chowdhury Tipu, Abdul Aziz, Mainuddin Hasan Shahed and Ahmed Gias said they were able to enjoy the beach very well as there were no outside tourists. However, they also think that the hope of foreign tourists is very important for economic prosperity.

Saifullah Sifat, supervisor of Sea-Safe Life Guard, said the arrival of tourists on Eid day was haggling. However, since Tuesday morning, he saw tourists descending into the non-water of the beach with each point in groups. To ensure the safety of the tourists who take a bath in the rough sea, the staffs are always on duty, sitting on the tower and observing the sand dunes and taking life boats in the water. So far no accidents have occurred.

Authorities have announced discounts for visitors on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha at Bangladesh's first world-class sea aquarium in Cox's Bazar. 

This sea aquarium is one of the attractions for those who visit Cox's Bazar. In this aquarium, visitors get to see the biodiversity of different species in the mysterious world under the sea.

The Sea Aquarium, run by Radiant Fish World, has announced a 10 per cent discount for tourists visiting Cox's Bazar on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha this year. In addition, there is a 40 percent discount for all students. This aquarium inspection is free for children under three and a half feet. Cox's Bazar

Cox's Bazar Tourist Police Additional Superintendent of Police Rezaul Karim said special measures have been taken for the safety of incoming tourists. Police patrol has been increased. Members of the tourist police are patrolling various spots on the beach including Himchhari and Inani. According to the police official, there are about 30,000 tourists on the beach at present.

In the monsoon season, 40 to 50 percent discount is being offered in more than 500 hotels, motels, resorts and guest houses to attract tourists to Cox's Bazar during the Eid holidays.
