Halima Jabbar, wife of legendary singer, music composer and freedom fighter, Abdul Jabbar, died of old age complications early on Thursday morning.
She was 75 years old. She was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMUH) about three months ago for treatment of multiple health problems including kidney diseases. She died at about 10:20.Halima, also a song lyricist, author and freedom fighter, is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Her body is now preserved at the BSMMUH mortuary. Halima’s body would be buried beside late Abdul Jabbar in the Martyred Buddhijibi graveyard in Mirpur after namaz-e-janaza to be held today (Friday) in Bhutergoli Mosque near Central Road in the city. The family members seek blessings of all well-wishers for the diseased.
