Chittagong Central Jail Legal Aid Corner was inaugurated and institutional public hearing was held to facilitate smart legal services for prisoners.
Senior District Judge Dr. Aziz Ahmad Bhuiyan inaugurated the Chittagong Central Jail Legal Aid Corner and institutional public hearing programme on Saturday to facilitate smart legal services for prisoners in Chittagong Central Jail.
He said that smart legal to facilities services for inmates in Chittagong Central Jail. Inauguration of Chittagong Central Jail Legal Aid Office and institutional public hearing programmes and services should be spread throughout the country. The expenses of poor people's cases, Sheikh Hasina government gives. If anyone is involved in false cases, Government legal aid is available".
The District Legal Aid Office is working to provide legal assistance to those detained without trial or indigent incarceration. Prison authorities are playing an important role in this regard. All prisoners have the right to seek bail through a lawyer. Due to financial difficulties, the government has established the District Legal Aid Office at the district level so that no prisoner is kept in jail without trial. All human rights instruments around the world mention legal aid for prisoners.
At the beginning of the program, the guests inaugurated Bangladesh's first "Chittagong Central Jail Legal Aid Corner" by blowing balloons and cutting the ribbon. Later presided over by Senior Jail Superintendent Manjurul Islam.
District Legal Aid Officer Muhammad Ibrahim Khalil was present at the event through power point presentation of government legal aid program. Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman spoke as the main speaker in the event.
He said that Chittagong District Legal Aid Committee is working with the aim of making Chittagong a smart district.

Khairul Amin, Additional District Magistrate Mamunur Rahman, Abdullah Al-Mamun, Senior Assistant Commissioner SMN Jamiul Hossain, Dr. Tushar Kanti Nath, Assistant Surgeon Dr. Md. Jahedul Islam Chowdhury and Assistant Surgeon Chittagong Central Jail Md. Emran Hossain Bhuya.
