Ainjibi Sanad Adhikar Andolon, a central convening committee of the apprentice lawyers demanded amendment to some process including recruitment. They had put a number of demands to recognize them as regular lawyers for their survival at an early date.
Central committee organized a meeting with its members in Jhenaidah district lawyers association building on Thursday with Pragatishil Ainjibi Front organizer Advocate Asadul Islam in the chair. Facilitated by central committee convener Sujan Biplab, said they formed a 7-member convening committee with Sujan Biplab for Jhenaidah. Committees in all other districts will be formed gradually.
The discussants sai, “Bangladesh is 12th in most density-prone population in 20 jobless countries in the globe, while the recruitment process for the lawyers is very complicated and lengthy. Sometimes the apprentice lawyers have to wait for decades for a full time license. Due to the lengthy and time killing process, most of the lawyers lead inhuman lives as they cannot manage alternative jobs for them anyway. It is a direct threat to the lives of those family members.”
Some of the important recommendations was put to cancel three-phase recruitment process, treat one year for the apprentice period, arrange training workshop, seminar and ensure assignments for apprentice lawyers and provide lawyers certificate immediately.
They demanded immediate enrollment of the apprentice lawyers through making the process easier at any early date. Otherwise the apprentice lawyers, each and every person involved in law practices, law students and others to organize a greater movement for the survival of the apprentice lawyers.
Bangladesh Juba Union central committee member Abu Towab Apu, past organizing secretary of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Rashib Hasan, Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) central committee member Ariful Islam Mitul, apprentice lawyer Mamun Hossain among others spoke.
