The 130th death anniversary of Baul Samrat Fakir Lalon has been postponed at Chheuria in Kumarkhali of Kushtia. Kushtia's Lalon Academy has taken this decision due to the Coronavirus situation. This time it was supposed to be held on 1st Kartik (October 17). Lalon Academy President and Deputy Commissioner Aslam Hossain said this at a press conference in the conference room of Kushtia Deputy Commissioner on Sunday (October 4) afternoon.
At the press conference, Deputy Commissioner Aslam Hossain said, “So far 71 people have died due to corona in Kushtia and a large number of people are affected. It is feared that the situation will worsen if there is a large crowd. Considering the situation, it is not possible to observe the death anniversary at Lalon Mazar premises like every year.
District Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Lutfun Nahar and Member Secretary of Lalon Academy and NDC Taifur Rahman were present on the occasion.
Mentionable, Fakir Lalon, a famous saint of the subcontinent, passed away in 1298 BS. Lalon Academy and district administration have been organizing this event in his memory.
