Published : 10 Nov 2020 07:55 PM

The much-acclaimed drama 'Laljamin' is awaiting its 250th staging. The 250th staging is on November 11 at the police line in Gaibandha. The 251st exhibition of the play will be organized by GaibandhaTheater on November 12 in the same district. The matter has been confirmed by Nithar Mahbub. Momena Chowdhury has acted solo in the play 'Laljamin' written by Manna Hira and directed by Sudip Chakraborty.

The play 'Laljamin' was first staged on 19 May 2011 at Natmandal. Since then, one play after another has been staged in remote areas of the country and abroad. The story of the play 'Laljamin' is a fragmentary statement of the liberation war. The participation of a teenager in the great liberation war, the horror of the war as the story progresses, the abandonment of the girl - finally gaining freedom; ‘Laljamin’ puts the audience in front of a new experience.

Regarding the 250th staging of the play, Momena Chowdhury said, "The 250th exhibition of my play 'Laljamin' in the context of Bangladesh is a great joy in my acting life." However, the sad thing about this joy is that due to some limitations, I am not getting all the members of the team at the happy moment of the 250th exhibition. Due to some limitations, only five members are going to Gaibandha today for the 250th stage. I really wanted to do the 250th exhibition in my own district Bogra with all the members of the team.

However, I am grateful to the playwright Mannan Hira, director Sudip Chakraborty, Zulfiqar Chanchal, Raju, Novera, Neela, Atiq, Joy, Shakib, Jewel, Sunny, Mehedi, Nithar Mahbub, Mamun, Jihad, Sajid, Basar, Mahbub for the staging collaboration. Everyone who has been involved so far. They have all helped me to come so far with 'Laljamin'.'

Momena further said, "The Ministry of Culture in the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has multiplied our enthusiasm by providing grants to the Shunyan Repertory Theater for staging 'Laljamin' in different districts and upazilas of the country and in various educational institutions." I would like to express my gratitude to Asaduzzaman Noor MP, a prominent drama personality.

We have also got the World Literary Center by our side in this journey. On the initiative of Abdullah Abu Sayeed Sir, there has been an opportunity to stage 'Laljamin' in different colleges and universities. Gratitude to Bangladesh Police DIG Habibur Rahman BPM (Bar) PPA. Who has taken the initiative to stage 'Laljamin' in different police lines. Special thanks to His Excellency President Abdul Hamid of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
