Lainey Wilson walked away with an impressive five trophies, including the highly coveted Entertainer of the Year award on wednesday night at the Country Music Association Awards.
In a night filled with star-studded performances and heartfelt speeches, Louisiana singer Lainey Wilson emerged as the shining star at the Country Music Association Awards held at Bridgestone Arena.
Wilson's triumphs also included recognition as Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for her acclaimed record, "Bell Bottom Country". Her electrifying rendition of "Wildflowers and Wild Horses" transported the audience to a classic Hollywood Western, showcasing her dynamic talent.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Wilson tearfully expressed her gratitude, stating, "This is all I’ve ever wanted to do, it’s the only thing I know how to do. It finally feels like country music is starting to love me back.”
Having entered the night as the leading nominee with nine nods, Wilson and HARDY had already secured the Musical Event of the Year award for their collaboration, "Wait in the Truck".
Rapper-turned-singer Jelly Roll also left a lasting impression, opening the show with a powerful performance of his hit "Need a Favor" alongside surprise guest Wynonna Judd. He later closed the night with a poignant duet with K. Michelle on Judd's iconic track, "Love Can Build A Bridge".
Reflecting on his journey, Jelly Roll stated, "There is something poetic about a 39-year-old man winning new artist of the year. What’s in front of you is so much more important than what’s behind you.”
Luke Combs, a two-time previous Entertainer of the Year winner, secured the Single of the Year award for his rendition of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car". Chapman herself received the Song of the Year accolade for the timeless composition she penned in 1988.
In a heartfelt tribute, artists including Kenny Chesney, the Zac Brown Band, Alan Jackson, and Mac McAnally paid homage to the late singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, transforming the stage into a beach party with a medley of Buffett's greatest hits.
Continuing the tradition, Chris Stapleton clinched Male Vocalist of the Year for the seventh time, while Old Dominion claimed Vocal Group of the Year for the sixth time. Brothers Osborne secured their sixth win in the Duo of the Year category, expressing their genuine surprise and gratitude for the recognition.
Hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, the CMA Awards provided a night of unforgettable moments, celebrating the best in country music and paying tribute to the genre's enduring legends.
