An official of the Department of Labour has been arrested for allegedly molesting an eight-year old female child at Laxmipur Jhautola area under Rajpara police station of the city on Monday morning.
The official has been identified as Monirul Alam alias Borik (52). He is Deputy Director of the Department of Labour in Rajshahi.
Majharul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Rajpara police station informed an eight year old female child was taking a bath at the pond of Luxmipur area on Monday morning. While she was swimming in water, Monirul allegedly caught attempted to rape and sexually molest her in water. Later, the child went home and informed the incident to her mother.
The mother of the child went to the house of Monirul when he locked into an altercation with her over the incident. Being informed, local people rushed to the spot and kept Monirul confiscated in his house and informed police. Later, police from Rajpara police station went to the spot and took Monirul to the police station.
Police said, mother of the child has filed a case under Women and child Reperssion Repeal Act accusing Monirul. Police arrested Monirul and sent him to the court.
