Actress Kushum Sikder is set to make her directorial debut this year with the film "Shoroter Joba." After taking a five-year break from acting, Kushum is returning to the spotlight, not just as an actress, but also as a director. The film, which has already received its censor certificate, is scheduled to premiere in two months.
Kushum kept her directorial plans a secret until now. She managed the entire shoot in the Narail district, overseeing every detail herself. The production team is working hard to ensure the movie is ready for release this year. Kushum aims to release "Shoroter Joba" in September.
Kushum stepped back from the industry five years ago due to depression and a heavy work schedule. During her break, she appeared in music videos featuring her poems and songs but stayed away from acting. Now, she is deeply involved in every aspect of her film's production, from the storyline to filming.
"I'm nurturing this film like a child," Kushum said. "As both the producer and director, I've handled everything myself. It was a challenging yet rewarding experience."
Kushum also shared that the process was stressful but enjoyable. She worked on the story, scripting, editing, color grading, and sound design. Despite the difficulties, she is excited to present her work to the audience.
"Shoroter Joba" stars Kushum Sikder alongside Yash Rohan, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Naresh Bhuiyan, Jeetu Ahsan, Boro Daa Mithu, Ashoke Bepari, and others. Kushum plans to release a music video next month and has no immediate plans for more acting roles.
